Characteristics:

  • Length: 50 m
  • Width: 12,5 m
  • Depth: 20 m (along 1/4 of the basin) and 10m (along 3/4)
  • Regular and irregular-one-direction waves (maximum wave height : 50cm crest-to-trough)
  • Towing carriage: speed up to 1,5 m/s
  • Handling means: 25 tons and 5 tons cranes

Main activities:

  • Hydrodynamic testing and studies

- Assessment of the dynamic behaviour of floating structures (drilling and oil production units, anchored systems...) in calm waters and in waves (reduced scale testing).
- Dynamics of cables and pipes in waves and currents, interactions with the sea bottom.
- Dynamics of towed underwater systems
- Interactions between trawls and ship
- Development and testing of underwater systems such as ROVs, and AUVs
- Divers training

  • Acoustics tests:

The geometrical characteristics of the basin are favourable to perform studies on sonars, sounders, various antennas...
