The hyperbaric testing tank laboratory manages and operates four high
pressure tanks, whose dimensions and capabilities are different. They
allow deep immersion simulation up to 10.000 metres. Filled with fresh or
sea water, they can be temperature controlled. The main facilities which
are associated at these tanks are:
- Real time data acquisition of strain gauges
- Measurements under pressure
- Real time video up to 1000 bar
- Hydraulic, electrical and optical connectors, tight up to 600 bar
- Rotation, tension and bending operation under pressure
- Weighing of materials under pressure
- Measurement of buoyancy variation
- Ageing of materials studies under pressure.

Main activities:
- Development, qualification, control of containers which must resist
to
external pressure
- Behaviour studies of composite housings under pressure (buckling,
cycling,...)
- Tests on sub-marine optical & -electrical
cables
- Measurement of optical attenuation, electrical insulation under
pressure
- Qualification of electrical and optical connectors under pressure
- Behaviour of buoys (syntactic foams, fishing buoys...) measurement
of buoyancy variation
- Influence of both temperature and pression on the behaviour of the
isolating marerials for deep sea
- Influence of pressure, temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen... on
the ageing of materials
