Commissioned in October 1990 ( first scientific cruise in March 1991 ), the
multi-purpose research vessel L'Atalante is dedicated for research in marine geosciences,
physical oceanography and marine biology.
L'Atalante can operate a manned submersible such as Nautile (-6000m) and the remote
operated vehicle Victor 6000.
