VEMO+ : real time supervision software for subsea vehicle navigation

 

The VEMO+ software's main functions are the preparation, real time monitoring, archiving and operational examination of Ifremer's subsea vehicle navigation.

VEMO+ provides vehicle operators with a high-performance, easy-to-use tool which works on all vehicles, to manage the navigation before, during and after the dive.

VEMO+ meets the operational requirements in the fields of assignment preparation, real time subsea trajectory plotting, supervising the behaviour of the system and the support ship during the dive as well as the operational use of the navigational data.

The user interface of VEMO+ works with all of Ifremer's undersea vehicles :VICTOR 6000, Nautile, SARand Cyana.

Functions

Before the dive

  • creating and modifying cruise parameters
  • preparing and configuring dive parameters :
    • cartography
    • navigation
    • vehicle equipment
    • data acquisition (network frames, serial link)
    • comments, etc.

During the dive

  • Shared MMI combining control and supervision features for the navigation and for the vehicle's equipment (sensors, actuators, video, cables, alarms, etc.)
  • undersea trajectory plotting :

    • real time monitoring of georeferenced trajectories for the support ship and the subsea mobiles
    • bathymetry of the zone (isobath curves)
    • grid, grid referencing, axes and scale indication
    • display options (cartouche, comments, hours on route, appearance of mobiles, drafting tool, etc.)
    • interactive and ergonomic view handling (scroll, zoom, centring on mouse-click or mobile, automatic centring on mobile, printing, etc.)
    • Various information (characteristics of a route-point, azimuth/distance between 2 points, etc.)
  • navigational aids :
    • profile management (routes to follow)
    • guidance information (on profile, target, characteristic point, mouse-click or mobile)
    • vertical plane display
    • various computations (distance covered, speed, cartographic conversions, etc.)
  • creating, managing and displaying events (sampling, photos, etc.) and of georeferenced characteristic points (start/end of dive, beacon, active site, basket, echo sounder, etc.)
