A Lead Partner, P. Prouzet from Ifremer must report to the people in charge of the INTERREGIII program about the progress of the work completed and explain whether it meets the technical objectives previously published and approved. His administrative assistant, M. Rousseau from CG Gironde must liaise with institutions and national authorities involved in this project. This group of lead partners is assisted by a financial department from Ifremer for the financial management and the certification of expenditures. A monitoring committee will assess the project internally, check that the objectives have been met and judge the quality of the final product. The product consists mainly of an Internet network with eel dedicated websites that summarise the situation on every pilot catchment (see the map). The common plan for these websites is as follows: Exploitation Resource - Environment. These websites are designed in every catchment under the supervision of the project partners. Their role is to liaise with the Lead Partner and ensure that data is collected and findings are shared inside the catchment through a partnership between technicians, consumers and managers. They must ensure that every catchment can have an overall and accurate view of the situation. Consistency between catchments will be checked by the Lead Partners team and the project partners. So that abundance figures, fishing statistics, and characteristics of habitats can be compared from one catchment to another the data must be collected according to standardised methodologies. These methodologies must be validated within a network of thematic working groups . The 4 thematic working groups are: the glass eel index group, the yellow eel group, the silver eel group, the habitats group. The expected product will be a simplified users guide whose aim is to assess the state of the eel population and the yielding potential of its habitats. This aspect is the responsibility of the thematic working group leaders who will liaise with the scientific coordinator. A technical committee has been created with catchment project partners and thematic working groups. This committee liaises with the scientific lead partner. The committees main role is to set the general conditions before a summary is produced and the users guide for the collection of relevant indices is issued.
