ORCA025 DRAKKAR CONFIGURATION
ORCA025
DRAKKAR SIMULATIONS (including 50 years runs with interannual
forcing)
General configuration characteristics
This
configuration is based on the one developed by the MERCATOR
team.
Horizontal grid : ORCA type, 1/4° at the equator. 1442x1021 points
Vertical grid
DRAKKAR
vertical grid (see « general features
»).
Bathymetry
The
first bathymetry (year 2004) has been calculated using the ETOPO2
bathymetry
from satellite. This bathymetry had a few bugs. See the
note on the old bathymetry
( bathy_orca025_old.pdf
)
A new bathymetry has been
calculated in april 2005 using GEBCO1 for shallow
areas and
ETOPO2 for deeper areas Note on the
bathymetry (.pdf)
The final bathymetry file is called
ORCA025_combined_coast_corrected.nc

text file showing all the had-modified grid points in the bathymetry

Initial conditions
Initial conditions (T,S) are
interpolated from the PHC 2.1 climatology, which combines Levitus
(1998) worl ocean climatology with a better Arctic database.

RUNOFFS
A
new runoff file has been calculated using the Dai and Trenberth
(2002) dataset:
Bourdalle-Badie, R., and A.M. Treguier, 2006: A climatology of runoff for the global ocean-ice model ORCA025. Mercator-Ocean report, MOO-RP-425-365-MER. (PDF)
