Hellenic Centre for Marine Research HCMR  (Grèce)   PhD Candidate Biologist, Environmental Microbiologist   Son travail à bord Leg 1. Collect sediment samples from different habitats from the mud volcanoes Napoli and Amsterdam. Have an detailed profile of the prokaryotic diversity of the sediments both push and gravity corers will be used. The obtained cores will be sliced horizontal in layers and will be transferred to the lab for further analysis.

Son parcours professionnel

Maria is in the second year on her PhD thesis "Molecular and biochemical characterisation of microorganisms involved in the anerobic oxidation of methane and methanogenesis in gas hydrate sediments of the eastern Mediterranean Sea". At the moment, she is visiting the University of Thessaly and working under the supervision of Ass. Prof. Konstantinos Kormas.
