Education

1995 : D.Sc. Institute of Geology of Ore Deposits, Petrography, Mineralogy and Geochemistry, Russian Acad.Sci. Thesis: A paragenetical analysis of mineral assemblages in the ores of hydrothermal deposits of base and precious metals.

1977 : Ph.D.Institute of Geology of Ore Deposits, Petrography, Mineralogy and Geochemistry,the USSR Acad.Sci. Thesis: Phase relations in the Pb - Sn - Sb - S system under hydrothermal conditions (Supervisior Prof. I.Y.Nekrasov).

1975 : Post graduate course in physico-chemical petrology and mineralogy. Institute for Experimental Mineralogy. The USSR Acad. Sci.

1968 : Mining Ingeneer - Geologist. The Moscow Geological Prospecting Institute (exploration and prospecting of mineral deposits).

 

Specialities

The genesis of the modern and ancient ore deposits of the base and precious metals. Mineral chemistry of sulfides. Nanoparticles and their distribution and nature in mineral deposits. Stabilities and phase relations of minerals, mineral equilibria in ores of the hydrotheramal deposits. Source of mineral-forming fluids and their constituents in tectonically-active zones.
The last five years have been spent in investigations of mineralogy, mineral textures, fluid inclusions in minerals, distribution of trace elements and fractionation of stable isotopes between coexisting minerals, radiogenic and stable isotopes in minerals, mineral paragenesis and an application of these data to an understanding of mineral forming processes responsible for the formation of epithermal and mesothermal deposits of base and precious metals and modern sulfide sea-floor chymneys.

The last fifteen years have been spent in investigations of modern sea-floor sulfide deposits at Mid-Atlantic Ridge, East Pacific Rise and back arc basin in Pacific. These researches included studies of mineral intergrowths, fluid inclusions in minerals, Pb, He, Nd, Sr, O, H, S isotope systematics and field studies at Mid-Atlantic Ridge (Rainbow and Broken Spur), EPR 9 and 21oN, Guaymous Basin with RV "kademik Mstislav Keldysh" including diving with "Mir" submersible, MAR 6oN with RV "Akademik Ioffe".

1996 – present. Head of Laboratory of Mineralogy at Institute of Ore Deposits, Petrography, Mineralogy and Geochemistry (I.G.E.M.), Russian Academy of Sciences.
2004 – present. Director of Institute of Ore Deposits, Petrography, Mineralogy and Geochemistry (I.G.E.M.), Russian Academy of Sciences.
