The Data Center manages the National Oceanographic Data Banks of
different disciplines. The data are collected by the French scientific
community or in cooperation with other countries, on board the Research
Fleet, or by using common autonomous observing systems, in the frame of
national and international projects.
You can directly get data on line by the web
portal SISMER or by sending an email to
sismer@ifremer.fr.

How can you contribute to the national banks ?
If your data are not indexed in our catalogs,
you can send a copy to the corresponding data base responsible or at sismer@ifremer.fr.
You don't need to modify the format.
It is important to deliver a coy of your data
sets to the national data center who will insure a long-time safeguarding of the
data. Archiving and appropriate data management is necessary : after 10 year about 30% of the data are very difficult to retrieve if not
lost. Once lost, an observation in variable environment can never been remade. Furthermore, data originating from different sources must be coherent and compatible,
data can be highlighted by preparation of products.
