Policy for Data managed by IFREMER

General Condition

The copyright applies on data dissemination.

The data user pledges for himself and his co-workers as well as for his subcontractors if any, to never make a commercial use of the data without prior IFREMER and data providers written consent. IFREMER makes no warranty that the data are fit for the intended purpose. The data user shall use the data supplied by IFREMER at his own risk and on his sole responsibility. He pledges to waive any right to sue IFREMER in respect of any loss or damage arising from the use of the supplied data.

Scientific Confidentiality

During the first two years after the end of a cruise, the data cannot be delivered without the chief scientist permission.

The data collected in the frame of national or international programmes are delivered according to the project data management policies.

French Defense Restrictions

Bathimetric data collected within the French territorial zones cannot are submitted to the Navy authorizaton.

Contractual restrictions

Some data sets collected for non scientific purposes are not available without the author permission.

Access Conditions

Cost

For scientific use, the user can be charged for marginal cost only.

For any other purpose, IFREMER will prepare an estimate of the cost before any data delivery.

Use of the data

The user commits himself :

1) not to transmit the data to any other possible user without the IFREMER permission.

2) not to take IFREMER responsible for any further use that can be made of the delivered data.
